Situated on the banks of the Ill river, Strasbourg is the principal city in the Alsace region of the Bas-Rhin (67) department in northeastern France. The city has a population of c.275,000 with up to 450,000 inhabitants in the greater area and is only a few kilometres from the German border.
Airport
Strasbourg airport is a 15 minute drive & train ride from the residence. There is a tram / shuttle bus option from the city centre also.

Through ongoing improvements through to 2012 the journey time to Paris is expected to decrease even further to 1h 50mins. Strasbourg at this stage will be seen as key strategic TGV crossroads as it links up the European high speed rail network.
