Situated on the banks of the Ill river, Strasbourg is the principal city in the Alsace region of the Bas-Rhin (67) department in northeastern France. The city has a population of c.275,000 with up to 450,000 inhabitants in the greater area and is only a few kilometres from the German border.

  • 6 direct returns to Marne-La-Vallée TGV in 2h25 and Massy TGV in 3h00.
  • 1 direct return to Rennes in 5h10.
  • 2 direct returns to Nantes in 5h10.
  • 3 direct returns to Bordeaux in 6h20.

Furthermore, certain Paris-Strasbourg connections will handle links with Germany and Switzerland, offering the following services from Strasbourg:

  • 4 returns to Stuttgart in 1h30 (via Karlsruhe in 40 min), 2 of which travel on to Munich (3h40).
  • 4 returns to Basel in 1h10.
  • 3 returns to Zurich in 2h10.

Through ongoing improvements through to 2012 the journey time to Paris is expected to decrease even further to 1h 50mins. Strasbourg at this stage will be seen as key strategic TGV crossroads as it links up the European high speed rail network.
